If you are a spokesperson, a CEO or a media relations executive, then you must be aware of what ‘off the record’ means.
There are 2 types of ' off the record':
1. The first type is when the information may be disclosed but not the source.
2. The second type is when information and source are never shared. If you don’t want this information to be revealed then you might not want to share it with the journalist. However, if you have a long-term strong relationship with the journalist then you may share it.
Everything you say is always on the record – even when the journalist stops writing or the camera is off.
